When I got a press release last week with this sleek, stylish and uber-slick mirror, I wasn’t surprised that it came from Hastings. I think that the Luna 1 would be a terrific addition to any bathroom. In fact, I just included it in a post I wrote for a new home buyer blog I also write for.
This is a category that has really evolved in recent years. Once upon a time, bathroom mirrors were basic and, frankly, kind of tacky. Now there are models with TVs built-in, vertically-opening doors and other high-tech features. Luna 1 nicely straddles the line between elegant simplicity and enhanced performance.
The inset provides three times (3x in mirror speak), the magnification of a standard model, (perfect for those of us who need to put makeup on). Its swing-out arm lets you see yourself from different angles without being a contortionist, and the mirror’s overall slim profile assures that it will work with most wall sconces or overhead lighting.
Hastings has been around since 1885, providing decorative architectural products to the US market. It originated in the Hudson Valley of New York as a paving manufacturer, (with Central Park among its distinguished credits). Since switching businesses, they started seeking out top European products, both classic and contemporary. Their discerning eye has led to successful showrooms in New York and Chicago. I would dearly love to see them open a Southern California location, too.
