New universal design and aging in place trends

This article just published in a trade magazine I write for every month.  If you have plans to remain in your home in your senior years, or have someone in your household with mobility issues, this Trend Spotting report on aging in place and universal design approaches will be helpful.

It also includes a section on  smart home benefits for wounded warriors — which I wanted to include in honor of Veteran’s Day this week.  I interviewed an executive from the Gary Sinise Foundation in charge of designing and building them.  You may remember that Sinise played Lt. Dan, the officer who lost his legs in the movie Forrest Gump.  That role and his life experience inspired the actor to create his charitable foundation, which has helped so many veterans like his character!
